What Our Customers Say About Us
What advice to give to someone new to Switch?
Here are my big ones:
Get a glass screen protector on it before you give it to the kids. A multipack is nice, because I’ve screwed up a screen protector install. Use a steamy bathroom to apply them. Lock yourself in the bathroom, and turn the shower on hottest and full blast. Leave the curtain open. Once it gets steamy, wash your hands and then use the cleaning wipe on the Switch. Now when you put on the screen protector, you won’t get dust spots because steam gets dust out of the air.
Digital Sales are often better than physical sales on non-Nintendo games. Use DekuDeals.com to watch the sales and make wish lists to find out when games are on sale. No way my aunt does this, but I still think it’s good advice.
Get a 256GB SD card because you will need extra space. Make sure it’s a Samsung or SanDisk because of fakes out there. The 256 are $40, so no reason to get smaller.
For families, I suggest digital games because kids can’t lose them. Unless you will have more than one Switch because digital game sharing across multiple Switches is limited. If you do do physical games with small kids, get one game case that the parent keeps and make the kids come to you to change the games. My parents did that with me after I lost 5 3DS games and I never lost another game. When I was a little more mature, I got to keep the game case.
Joycons will drift, but Nintendo fixes drift for no charge even if they’re out of warranty. Drift means your Switch will act like the joystick is tilted even when it isn’t. Like a character will move on screen even when you’re not touching the joystick. There’s a website you can go to, but I always just call Nintendo and setup a repair. I’ve done this 3 times and it takes 1-2 weeks to get them back.
The official Pro Controller is the best controller for the Switch. The 8bitdo ultimate is pretty close, but I still like the HD rumble of the official pro controller. The cheap Power A and PDP controllers are ok for the cost.
